ONE MOUNTAIN, TWO MILESTONES
In upstate New York, beneath a blanket of arctic air, Ashton Salwan launched into a new chapter of his freestyle aerials career. Competing in back-to-back events at Bristol Mountain Resort, he delivered one of his most defining performances to date — earning 1st place at the 2024/25 U.S. Selections and finishing 5th at the U.S. National Championships just one day later.
These weren’t just competitions. They were confirmation.
GOLDEN MOMENT: U.S. SELECTIONS VICTORY
On January 10, 2025, with temperatures hovering at 9°F and flurries falling under the lights, Ashton stood atop the in-run with the weight of years of training on his shoulders. With the crowd hushed and conditions unforgiving, he threw down a bold back-Double-Full-Full — executed with power, precision, and poise. He scored a 98, claiming 1st place overall and securing his first-ever U.S. Selections title.
1st Place. 2025 U.S. Freestyle Aerials Selections Champion. Domestic World Cup Qualified.
This win earned Ashton the right to compete in all upcoming World Cup events on U.S. soil for the 2024/25 season — a powerful leap forward for him as an independent athlete whose journey that year spanned three continents and countless hours of self-driven work.
"That moment was everything. All the travel, the solo training, the grind - it led here. And now it’s real."
~ Ashton Salwan
STAYING SHARP: U.S. NATIONAL CHAMPS TOP 5
One day later, on January 11, Ashton returned to the same hill — this time facing Olympians, veterans, and U.S. Team regulars at the 2025 U.S. Freestyle Aerials National Championships.
Through swirling wind and bitter cold, he once again delivered: clean technique, sharp execution, and competitive composure. His performance earned him a 5th place finish — proving that the day before wasn’t a fluke, it was a foundation.
THE ROAD AHEAD
What unfolded at Bristol Mountain was more than two strong results — it was a turning point. Ashton left Canandaigua, NY not just a competitor, but as a true contender.
